BFSA (Badminton Saudi Arabia) scored a near sweep, winning two out of the three championships it entered in the 1st BKS-Optima Open badminton club championship which ended last Saturday at the BKS Indoor courts in Manama, Bahrain.
The tournament was organized by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam in collaboration with Bahrain Badminton & Squash Federation.
According to a press release e-mailed to Arab News by BSFA Preident George PuthenMadhom, BFSA had teams in all the 3 flights and won titles in Flight 2 and Flight 3.
The BFSA Flight 1 players are: Akshay Dewalkar, Sai Praneeth, George PuthenMadhom, Renin Wilson, Tony Abraham, Eapen Mathews and Josephine Dupet.
The Flight 2 players are: Arif Shamsudin, M.A.Baig, Niaz Omer, Shinu Varghese, Jeevan Kumar, Vinu Johny, Koh Liang Feng, Ancil Salahudin and Margie while Biju Mathew, Joffin Sebastian, Hassan Mohammed, Sakaria Isac, Sharafuddin Kassim, Roji Joseph, Mohd. Mahsun and Sandra Sakaria bannered Flight 3 for BFSA.
Under the tournament format players were categorized into three flights. Flight 1 included international players from India and Indonesia.
Flight 2 consisted of Premier level players and Flight 3 consisted of hampionship players.. BFSA brought 2 top seeded Indian players, Sai Praneeth and Akshay Dewalkar, to play for the Saudi team.
All together there were 10 international players in various teams from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar nad UAE.
Trophies for BFSA team, individual players and cash prize were awarded.
The sponsor of the international players for BFSA was Anil Madhusoodanan , Sinmar Badminton Group, Riyadh.
PuthenMadhom , Babu Varghese and Arif Shamsudin were the BFSA team managers.
